Russell Group Graduate Teaching Assistant – The Role

As a Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with experienced teachers and school leaders to support pupils both academically and pastorally.

Key responsibilities include:

• Supporting pupils on a one-to-one and small-group basis
• Assisting teachers with lesson delivery and classroom activities
• Delivering targeted interventions to raise attainment
• Supporting students with varying abilities and learning needs
• Encouraging engagement, confidence, and academic progress
• Assisting with lesson planning, preparation, and educational resources
• Developing your understanding of teaching, behaviour management, and classroom practice
• Contributing positively to the wider school community

Russell Group Graduate Teaching Assistant – Candidate Requirements

• A degree from a Russell Group university
• A strong academic record throughout education
• A genuine interest in pursuing a career in teaching or education
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• A proactive, professional, and enthusiastic approach
• The ability to build positive relationships with young people
• Previous experience working with children or young people is beneficial but not essential
• Applicants must live within approximately one hour's commute of their placement school
