Graduate Teaching Assistant – The Role

As a Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will support teachers and pupils across a range of subjects and age groups, helping to create an engaging and productive learning environment.

Key responsibilities include:

• Supporting pupils on a one-to-one and small-group basis
• Assisting teachers with lesson preparation and classroom delivery
• Helping students overcome barriers to learning
• Supporting pupils with varying abilities and educational needs
• Encouraging confidence, engagement, and academic progress
• Promoting positive behaviour and classroom participation
• Contributing to a safe, inclusive, and supportive school environment

Graduate Teaching Assistant – Candidate Requirements

• A degree from a recognised university (all subject areas considered)
• A genuine passion for education and supporting young people
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• A proactive, professional, and enthusiastic approach
• Previous experience working with children or young people is advantageous but not essential
• Applicants must live within approximately one hour's commute of Lewisham and be able to travel reliably to their placement school each day
