You'll Need:
- A Humanities degree (2:1 or higher) in English Literature, English Language, History, or Geography – your subject knowledge is essential
- Passion for education – you genuinely want to help young people succeed
- Clear communication skills – you can explain ideas in ways students understand
- Enthusiasm and resilience – teaching is rewarding but can be challenging
- Commitment to safeguarding – all candidates will undergo enhanced DBS checks
What You'll Actually Be Doing
Supporting Student Success
- Deliver targeted 1:1 and small-group interventions for students who need extra support
- Help GCSE and A-Level students master challenging concepts and exam techniques across Humanities subjects
- Work with learners across all abilities—from those building foundational skills to high-achievers pursuing top grades
- Support students in developing critical thinking, analytical writing, and research skills
Building Your Teaching Skills
- Assist classroom teachers in delivering engaging lessons across English, History, and Geography
- Develop strategies for explaining complex ideas and historical contexts in accessible ways
- Learn classroom management techniques in a supportive environment
- Observe excellent teaching practice firsthand
- Support reading comprehension, essay writing, and source analysis
What We're Looking For
It Would Be Great If You Have:
- Any tutoring, mentoring, or volunteering experience with young people
- Clear ambitions to pursue qualified teacher status
- Strong essay writing and analytical skills
